As we head through the Jul (Yule) season, and the year winds down. Skaði's breath is covering the land and Bifrost burns brightly in the north. Freya and I and the rest of the folks here, want to welcome all of you to the new workplace. We named the site and web page to Gerðs Hearth for a few reasons. First lets figure out how to pronounce it! ð is voiced, like the word That. The letter þ is not voiced or is soft like Thunder and Thor. Let look at a little language lesson. try switching them up in English (Ð and Þ are used in place of TH for clarity): Ðe þermometer ðey bought was þeoretically þrown away. The Thermometer They bought was Theoretically Thrown away. It takes practice, but the sounds they make do come naturally. Oh the "S" at the end is total BS. We needed it to fit or modern language and it looks better than Gerð!

Back to the Hearth!.

The term Prepper. Survivalist, DYI'er Homesteader, Off Grid and words that were common, are now being scrutinized by AI programs , Bots and people. They have, from what a friend told me, "Negative Indices" Groups with that in their name.are being deleted at a rapid pace. Hell up until the the 7th I was an admin on a Heathen/Pagan veterans page. And I wake up on the 7th of December and its gone. My old profile is gone. All the admins, moderators and page owners were deleted.

So we dug out the Old Norse dictionary, and tossed it away. My old Norse SUCKS! Seriously, we looked for names that would align with "prepare" but not so obvious. And the word Gerð came up. It and old Norse word that translates roughly to "prepare" Now it is ALMOST identical to the name for Freyr's wife Gerðr. But Gerðr means to enclose or fence in. Gerð means to make ready or prepare. So Gerðs Hearth is reborn from Pagan Preparedness. A casual glance by some one who does not really know Old Norse, thinks the page is for a Jötunn that married a god.

We're here to learn from each other. To bounce ideas from each other. To teach each other. Freya Swan and I decided a long while back, we are not here on Midgard to save Midgard. I've for a very long time have thought that people like Freya myself and other Pagan Preppers, needed to teach others so that they can protect themselves from the BIg Bad... (insert your favorite religion here). It's going to sound callus, But I really don't care if anyone does or does not do anything we teach. We're not here to save anyone. Its time for a lot of people to put on their Big Boy or Big Girl panties and save themselves. We'll provide the education and where to find, make or gather the tools needed to succeed..

A Hearth in Norse culture is much more than a cooking area, the place in front of a fire. It is a place to gather. And here at Gerðs Hearth we gather share and discuss. We'll repost the rules from before, those have not changed and all the posts from before are staying. To much good information in them. Its a new start from a strong foundation. We'll have the new website up and running. And new posts well be added. So we want to welcome you to your new hearth. Gerðs Hearth
