Where do we go from here?

Big changes have happened. So many changes, what direction do we take?

So, it's been a while since I've posted. Things have changed. Oh, the love of my life is still and shall ever be the love of my life. But things have changed. The election is the biggest thing that effected the country as a whole. Here in the south? Hurricanes and tropical storms have altered life and the landscape here. We'll talk about that later! But the questions does stand. Where do we go from here? Some are elated that the President Elect Trump won. And others are past disappointed that Vice President Harris lost. My feelings? Well to be honest I didn't care for either. I do feel we MAY have a little breathing room to get our ducks in a row. And then again, we may not. I am going to be optimistic and say we have some breathing room.

I am NOT going to discuss the pros nor cons of who one and who lost. A wedge has been driven into the heart of this country One that is as great, if not greater than the one that was driven in between us on April 12th, 1861. Family and friend are now approaching mortal enemies. Cries of violence are erupting on all sides. One side's peaceful protest is the other's riot or even insurrection. Shots have been fired before and I fear more to come after January 20th.

What am I going to do about the trouble going on around?

Not a gods damned thing.

Well perhaps not nothing. We are going to increase our preps. Helene taught us that no matter how good or how ready we think we are, We ain't. We are going to be teaching more medial preparedness classes. Here and on the Medic Shack We're going to delve deeper into our faith. For a lot of reasons. One that I will share here.

On September 26th 2024 Christine and I were getting things ready for TS Helene to hit on the 27th. I was outside in the rain lashing things down, picking up loose items, putting lawn furniture in the Conex, outside stuff like that. Christine on the other hand took a break from what she was doing in the house, and laid food and drink on the altar we have in the house. She said a little something and went back to work. I was so busy I never noticed, until later that night and I noticed her putting fresh candles on the altar. About midnight the winds had really picked up and at 4 am the storm hit. Hard. Power flickered off and on and then went totally off. We could hear trees snapping, the rain was lashing the house. We could her things banging off the roof. By sunrise the winds were still gusting about 60-70mph. Our little weather stations recorded a gust of 92 mph before it broke. Trees were down everywhere. There was no power no internet and no cell. Our road looked like

And no damage to our place other than our $100 greenhouse was somewhere else. and on day 3 of no power our 20+ year old generator died. Some of our neighbors lost roofs; others lost siding and on others, trees were in their living rooms. I am 100% convinced that Christine's offering to the gods saved our home from any major damage.

So. What does all that have anything to do with the title of this blog post?

A lot actually. We really do have a lot to do. The major issues are, we need to prioritize what we need to do. Believe it or not, it's not about personal preps. It's what to do with this site. We have decided that the political correct gloves are off. In a front page post a few weeks ago we hinted at that, Look. I see both sides of the political spectrum. Not the extremes of either side. But I think both sides have great ideas. But one idea I can't stand is. "I'm offended!" Y'all know what? Get Over It! Seriously. We don't have time for that crap. We'll put out information and try to sell some products or classes. And if it offends someone? Wel I am truly sorry. Never meant to. But. we can't write posts with the fear of offending someone or group because we talked about "Black Guns". Or " butchering your own meat" or any of the tens of thousands of things that people get their panties in a wad over. When me, my wife or my son's call someone, Sir or Ma'am. it's a sign of respect. Never intentional "misgendering". Seriously. We don't give "AF" about it.

Sorry a little deviation there.

We are going to talk about uncomfortable subjects. Like female menstrual issues and how to accommodate them in a SHTF event. Butchering meat. Firearms. What bullets do to the body. Defense of the homestead. STD/STI treatment SHTF (They ARE going to happen. Seen them in other countries) We'll get some midwife folks here and talk about childbirth. We're done tip toeing around being sensitive. Survival is not sensitive. Hell running a homestead is not sensitive. How sensitive is it to have your hand in a cow's vagina trying to turn a calf? Seriously think about it.

We have a storm coming. No not another Helene. Worse. Far worse. We really need to put aside our sensitive feelings. For example. You identify as an incandescent light bulb, some knuckle dragger like me that is trying to be sensitive but calls you a LED light bulb, and you lose your sh.....poop. Really folks we have much bigger things to worry about than what type of light bulb you are. Just taking out the US pollical news from the nightly news, you can see that our earth is in deep crap. Mad people all over the world are wanting to show exactly how mad they really are. And are willing to blow things up to prove it. So put on your big boy, big girl or big light bulb panties and let's get to work learning how to take care of yourselves and families.

War

There. I've trotted it out and let it do a little gallop around the corral for y'all to see. War. About the worst word in the English Language. War is the most common and actually the easiest to deploy SHTF event. Its been used since the dawn of man. And it's coming. How? I don't know. Could it be civil war? Possibly, we're divided enough to do it. Spill over from the middle east? Possibly, as of today 11/21/24 The Hague issued arrest warrants for both the PM of Isreal, various staff members, and the equivalent ranked persons in Palestine. or the Ukraine and central Europe? Since the current administration allowed medium to long range weapons to be targeted inside the Russian Federation, its leader has said the nuclear war is possible now.

So, with everyone sounding like a fear monger, where do we stand on this? Really not much different than before. If anything, a bit more urgency in getting things done. One of my biggest projects I'm researching is how to EMP proof our new generator. Our old one was over 25 years old, and it finally gave up the ghost. Our new one has as much Electonics and my Jeep! (Admittedly my jeep is 25 years old!)

So, we're not banging the war drums and panicking. But we, that is Christine and I, feel that if people want to learn how to prep, well the time is now. Sure, there is a better than even chance things will blow over and it will be back to business as usual. A few months ago, a good friend and I did a webinar on WMD preparedness. With her permission I'll post the link here. Nuclear Survival with an Army NBC Specialist It's a paid webinar recording. But we cover a lot of things to do to help you prep for that possibility. And worth your money!

We have a lot of things coming up. We're bringing our other site, The Medic Shack partially into here for a dedicated place to get your medical info and classes. Chris and I have a lot of things planned so stay tuned! And THANK YOU all who have stuck with us.
